Masterclasses for Artists at The Art Market, York

The Art Market York

The Art Market York is launching three artists' masterclasses to be held alongside the market at York Racecourse on 30th - 2nd October 2016.

These exciting classes are designed to help artists and creatives broaden their creative skill set and help develop and deepen their own artistic practice, from experts in their field - Nathan Ford, Cathy Miles and Michael Brennand Wood.

Nathan Ford

Nathan Ford: Explore rhythm drawing and minimal painting

Nathan Ford’s paintings and portraits are brooding and atmospheric representations of identity and belonging. His works delicately highlight features of faces that become beautifully haunting, powerful portraits.

Nathan will be discussing ways in which artists can create a complete piece through learning new skills and a drawing and painting master class.  What makes an unfinished or finished piece of work?

Cathy Miles

Cathy Miles: Exploring ‘the Everyday’ Through Wire Sculpture

Cathy Miles creates delicate, highly detailed, sculptural illustrations in wire. Her work explores and exploits the boundaries between the 2 and 3 dimensional through the use of line.

In her masterclass, Cathy will be using curated everyday objects to form still life compositions, which will act as a springboard for the creation of wire sculptures.

Michael Brennand Wood

Michael Brennand Wood: Random Precision

Michael will be holding a masterclass ‘Random Precision’ loosely based on his own practice, incorporating mixed media, collage and construction. Participants will have the opportunity to construct a form in which they will create their personal vocabulary using 3D line, colour shape and pattern with a variety of materials.
