On Saturday 23 September, the Selvedge Fair travels to the north of England, to the Pendle Heritage Centre. A collection of 30 designer-makers will be showcasing and selling their textile treasures in this 17th century former farmhouse in Barrowford, Lancashire. Visitors can also take part in complimentary workshops by Kate Whitehead and Priscilla Jones.
The Selvedge Fairs are beautifully curated by the team behind the internationally-renowned textile magazine, Selvedge. Founder, Polly Leonard says, “You can go anywhere in the world and as long as you’re with people who love textiles, you are in some way home.”
The Selvedge Fair in Pendle is part of a month-long textile festival, Fabrications. Drawing on Lancashire’s rich textile heritage, Fabrications is a festival that celebrates textiles and the textile industry through the eyes of artists. Taking place in galleries, museums and former textile mills across Blackburn, Hyndburn, Burnley and Pendle throughout September, it will bring together exhibitions, residencies, major art installations, performances, a symposium, workshops, and the Selvedge Fair.
